Two amazing weeks…
Our 1st was spent at Riversdale, along the Shoalhaven River in NSW. The Arthur & Yvonne Boyd Arts Centre was our home for 7 days & 7 nights after which we never wanted to leave. Although the setting was tranquil, monastery like, many a stressful night was spent labouring over our project. Appropriately, the brief was to design an art gallery for the display of the Centre’s large collection of Arthur Boyd’s works. Two days of trekking through the countryside to find the ultimate site, the cold and rain didn’t stop us. Lessons from Max Harrison a traditional owner of the area, a definite highlight. My talented & crazy polish group mate Wojtek Przywecki & I developed a concept ‘embedded knowledge’. Followed by Crit sessions with Brit Andreson, Peter Stutchbury, Glen Murcutt & Richard Leplastrier, not at all intimidating! Week 2 was spent in central Sydney; our days were at the University of Sydney, our nights at Darling Harbour, a stark contrast to the week before. Our 2 designated student slaves helped us finalise our models & drawings for the final critique. Then back to work……..
