Ten weeks ago The Match Group engaged CODA to provide Design Development services for an entry level apartment project, located 300m from the beach in North Coogee. The development had previous approval for 81 dwellings yet within ten weeks CODA was able to complete the design review and most importantly… increase the number of dwellings by 25 units to 106!
The change in density was last week approved by the City of Cockburn, through a revised Structure Plan and DAP amended by CODA. Construction is now due to begin in early 2011.
Working with only a handful of materials such as face brick, exposed steelwork and cladding, has anchored the building firmly within Fremantle’s important history laden architectural framework. We have also given the CODA brick (designed for the award winning Think Brick competition) a guernsey on feature walls throughout the project!
Wherever possible, sustainable initiatives like improved cross ventilation, dual aspect apartments and allocated space for visitors’ bicycles have been incorporated into the design. Extended balconies act as outdoor lounge rooms, extending the actual living space of each apartment and contributing to a sense of community within this unique development.
